Iran Nat’l Quran Contest: Final Round Gets Underway in Several Categories

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The northern province of Qazvin is hosting the Quran Naghamat (melodies) section of Iran’s 45th national Quran competition this year.

According to Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Majidi, director general of the province’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Department, 40 Quranic circles will be organized on the sidelines of the competition.

He told IQNA that the final round in the Naghamat section, which began on Saturday, includes the categories of choral recitation of Quran, prayer recitation and Adhan (call to prayers).

Qazvin is hosting the contests in these three categories until Wednesday, December 14, he noted.

The cleric added that during the five-day competition, 40 Quranic circles will be held in cities, towns and villages of the province with the participation of provincial qaris and those from other provinces.

There is also an exhibition mounted on the sidelines of the Quranic event which features data-x-items related to Hijab, Quran, religious books, supplications, etc, he went on to say.

The final round in other categories of the competition is slated to be held in the southwestern province of Khuzestan in the month of Dey (December 2022-January 2023).

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s National Quran Competition is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of top Quran activists from across the country.

It is aimed at discovering Quranic talents and promoting Quranic activities in society.
